How to be ready for each school day

January 8, 2018

School can be really hard, but there are ways to make it easier. If you're here, you probably don't know where to start. Fortunately for you, we created this blog to give you tips and help you out, so that's what we're going to do. Today, you'll learn how to make school easier and how to be ready for each new day.

Being a student myself, I'm going through the same things you are. The stress, the procrastination and the lack of organisation. Fortunately, we learn from our errors.

If you're interested, continue to read this and maybe, if you like this, you could read our other blog posts.

Bring a notebook in class

When you take notes in class, you need to use short phrases or keyworks and to use your own words. The point of taking notes is to better understand what you're learning and class. You can use those notes to be ready for your next class. Before going to school, read what you wrote last time to be prepared for new knowledge. Always have a notebook and colorful pens, because you never know when you're going to need to write an important information down. When you write something, you have less chances of forgetting it.

Eat well

We work hard every school day and we need energy to be able to do all that work and to understand all the new information we learn. Try eating healthier and maybe even more often. If you have a sugar crash, you won't be able to work well. If you don't know where to start, you're lucky, because I found links that'll help you.

I know, you don't want to read all of those links, you have time, blablabla. Don't worry, I'm going to make a little summary just for you, my friend.

  • Plan ahead

Ever heard about meal prepping? It's when you plan ahead everything you'll eat in the next day, week or even month. It's great for busy people. I always make my lunch the day before and when I know I'm going to be busy in the morning, I make my breakfast too. Normally, when people meal prep, they do something like this:

They double or triple the recipe for a meal, separate it in different containers and put them in their fridge or freezer. For great meal prep ideas, you can go on Pinterest or to http://theeverygirl.com/20-lunches-you-can-meal-prep-on-sunday

  • Freeze

If you start meal prepping, you're going to need to freeze some of your meals. Even if you don't meal prep, your freezer could become your friend. I really like smoothies, they're easy to make, they have fruits and you can have one on the go. What I like doing is to take a zibloc bag, put all the ingredients of a smoothie recipe in it and freeze it. If you don't want to do that, you can just buy fruits during their seasons and freeze them to make them last longer. There are so many ways to keep food longer or to have them ready right when you need them and you only need your freezer. Go to https://hearthookhome.com/17-frozen-food-hacks-to-get-the-most-out-of-your-freezer/ for some frozen food hacks.

  • Swap for healtier foods

I'm sure that you eat things every day that aren't that good for you. Maybe each morning you eat a bagel for breakfast or you rather eat a candy bar instead of fruits... There is a healthier alternative to all the bad food you eat. I found a picture on Pinterest that explain pretty well what I mean.

If you like baking, you're going to be happy that I found this picture:

Just look "food swap healthy" on the internet for more results.

  • Don't keep junk food

If you have it, you're probably going to be tempted to eat it. Next time you go grocery shopping, stay away from the candy and chips aisle.

Make a morning and a night routine

Yup, this again... If you've seen one of my recent posts (How to be productive) you'd know that I recently changed my routines and wrote them down to be sure that I keep them. I'm still talking about that, because it works. I know exactly what I have to do at what time and it helps me a lot, because I don't have time to procrastinate.

When I didn't have this, I was procrastinating so much. I would arrive from school, turn on my phone and it'll be it. Working? Nope! I was always really stressed because of all the time I was wasting doing absolutely nothing. You may be thinking: "Wow, she goes to bed super early, how does she do it?!". Actually, I just didn't have enough place on my sheet of paper to write this, but that's not really the time I go to sleep. That's when I just relax, read a book or else. I let time loose in case my homeworks take longer than usual or that I really want to finish writing a post.

Plan things the night before

As you can see on my night routine, I like preparing stuff before going to bed. I make my lunch, my bag and plan a cute outfit. I do a lot of things in the morning and one thing I don't want to be worried about is what I'm bringing to school. I feel super accomplished when everything is ready in advance.

Have an agenda/planner

In school, everything has a deadline and if you don't know when it is, you have a problem. Try writing every exam, every homework, every meeting or whatever in your agenda. I write what I need to study, my classes, my homeworks, my exams and I plan my weekends in my agenda.

Morning workout

To wake myself up in the morning, there are a few things I like to do: let some light in, make my bed and workout. I start by simply stretching, then I do a little cardio and I end it with exercises to build a little muscle. I workout everyday except Sunday (every body needs a day off right?). Yes, it's really hard when you're starting to wake up in the morning and convince yourself that you need to get up to do crunches, but after a week you get used to it. I did a post about fitness motivation a while back , you should check it out.

Keep it clean

If your bag is full of papers you don't even remember the purpose and your desk is full of pens and old stuff, you should really clean them right away. From now on, you need to organize your stuff. Throw out the unwanted, put your important papers and documents and folders and put your pens in a pencil case, a box or a pencil holder. If you don't know where things are, you'll always feel like something is missing and maybe you won't work as well as you could or you're going to forget important stuff.

Motivation

The most important thing I need to start working is motivation. If I want to be ready for the next day, I need to be excited about it. There's a lot of inspirationnal quotes out there, but they're not guaranteed to get you excited. To get motivated about school, I watch back to school videos on YouTube. Don't tell me that the bright colors and the way beauty gurus talk about school doesn't make you want to go back at all. I have to warn you that you may have trouble to stop watching the videos. YouTube is addicting, ok? If you want tips to stay motivated in school, you could go check out another blog post of mine: How to stay motivated - School.

That's it for this post! Even if school can be unpredictable, I hope that these tips will make it a lot easier.
